Czech hospitals upgrade medical transport with new ambulances

Hospitals in the Czech Republic are upgrading their medical transport capabilities with new specialized ambulances.

Nemocnice Kyjov has acquired a new Ford Transit Custom for its medical transport service. The vehicle, costing approximately 1,799,270 CZK, was largely funded by donations from local municipalities in the Kyjov and Veselko regions, covering nearly 80% of the costs. The ambulance is equipped with climate control and a restraint system for wheelchairs, capable of transporting four seated patients or one patient on a stretcher.

Similarly, Nemocnice Strakonice has introduced a new ambulance designed for greater versatility. This vehicle is notable for being the first in the hospital to feature two transport chairs placed behind one another, allowing for the simultaneous transport of two non-ambulatory patients. The vehicle also includes a wheelchair restraint system and can accommodate up to four people, including one patient on a stretcher. The service is used for various needs, including transfers to surgeries, dialysis, and between medical facilities.
