Czech kayakers prepare for World Championships in Poznań

Czech sprint kayakers are preparing for the upcoming World Championships in Poznań, which serve as a critical component of the Olympic qualification process.

Olympic champion Martin Fuksa enters the competition in strong form, having won five international races this year. He plans to compete in the 500m, 1000m, and the double canoe event with his brother, Petr. Fuksa expressed confidence in his ability to remain at the top of the sport despite the pressure of being a favorite.

In contrast, star kayaker Josef Dostál faces challenges due to a viral infection that has forced him to miss approximately one week of training. This setback is significant because World Championship results offer 1.5 times more points toward Olympic qualification than World Cup events. Due to the illness, Dostál may adjust his strategy in Poznań, potentially focusing on a single discipline, such as the 500m, to manage his recovery and maximize qualification points.
