Czech landmarks undergo reconstruction: Bařinka cabin and Drábské světničky
Various historical and community sites in the Czech Republic are undergoing significant renovations. In Velké Karlovice, scouts from Vsetín are leading a volunteer-driven reconstruction of the Bařinka wooden cabin, which has stood since 1886. The project aims to repair a damaged roof and structural beams caused by leaks. While professional repairs could cost nearly one million CZK, the scouts expect to reduce costs to between 400,000 and 500,000 CZK through manual labor. A public fundraiser has already raised most of its 300,000 CZK goal.
Meanwhile, the Drábské světničky site in the Bohemian Paradise is nearing the end of a long reconstruction process that has kept the area closed since 2019. The project faced delays due to nesting peregrine falcons and geological findings that required deeper anchoring of structures. The renovation includes new stairs, walkways, and ramps designed to protect the sensitive sandstone surface from erosion and vandalism. The site will reopen once final safety inspections are completed.
