Czech legal expert advises on banking fraud via phishing SMS

A legal expert has provided guidance for individuals who have fallen victim to banking fraud via phishing SMS messages. In such cases, where a fraudulent link mimics online banking to steal credentials, victims are advised to file a criminal complaint with the Police of the Czech Republic.

While a perpetrator may be held liable for damages through court proceedings if identified, banks often refuse to reimburse losses. This refusal is typically based on contractual terms that exclude bank liability if the client fails to exercise an adequate level of caution.
