Czech libraries receive national and regional excellence awards

During Library Week in the Czech Republic, several prestigious awards were presented to recognize excellence in librarianship and community engagement.

The Ministry of Culture awarded the Library of the Year. The winner in the Basic Library category was the Municipal Library in Oldřichov u Hajek. In the Significant Achievement category, the Library of the North Bohemian Museum in Liberec was honored for its revitalization efforts. Additionally, the Municipal Library in Třinec won the City Library of the Year competition organized by the Association of Librarians and Information Workers (SKIP).

Regional awards were also presented. In the Central Bohemian region, the Středočeský Kramerius award was given to various volunteer librarians for their community work, including Šárka Maříková, Helena Kuklíková, Pavla Vopálková, Lenka Čechová, and Klára Matějková.

The MARK prize, which honors innovative librarians under the age of 35, was awarded to several individuals, including Magdalena Osičková from the Břeclav Municipal Library for her work integrating robotics into educational programs, and other recipients across the South Moravian, Olomouc, and Zlín regions.
