Czech Memorial House Competition and National Museum Exhibition Aim to Preserve Historic Buildings

The Sokol organization is backing the creation of a Memorial House in Zborov, intended to become a living centre of Czech‑Ukrainian memory. The project will include a small museum, a permanent exhibition on the Czechoslovak Legions, educational facilities and visitor accommodation. An international architectural competition, open to architects and architecture students from the Czech Republic, Ukraine and abroad, will decide the design; submissions close on 12 June 2026.

Separately, the National Technical Museum in Prague is hosting the exhibition “Story of My House”. In cooperation with the State Regional Archive, the show reveals how archival documents uncover the construction, ownership and cultural history of historic homes across Central Bohemia. Sixteen representative buildings are displayed, with deeper study material for 29 additional structures, illustrating the broader social, cultural and economic narratives tied to residential architecture.

Both initiatives seek to raise public awareness of heritage preservation, promote scholarly research, and strengthen cultural ties within the Czech Republic and with Ukraine.
