Czech MEP Tomáš Zdechovský Announces Restoration of Heřmánkovice Baroque Church

European Parliament member Tomáš Zdechovský announced the start of repairs on the Heřmánkovice baroque church, the most damaged of the historic churches in the Broumov region. The roof collapse that left the church in a state of emergency will be addressed with funding gathered from donations across the Czech Republic, as well as support from tourists visiting from Germany and Poland.

Zdechovský highlighted that the restoration program, which began twelve years ago, has already repaired towers in Martínkovice and the Church of St. Peter and Paul in Broumov, and plans to refurbish interiors in Vižňov and other sites. The project aims to preserve the unique baroque heritage that has no parallel worldwide.

The initiative is being co‑financed by private sponsors and public contributions, securing tens of millions of crowns for the ongoing work on the region’s cultural monuments.
