Czech Military Forests deploy new equipment to protect Brdy forests
The state enterprise Vojenské lesy a statky ČR (Czech Military Forests and Estates) has strengthened fire protection in the Brdy region by acquiring more than 50 new fire‑extinguishing devices of various sizes. The equipment is described as universal, capable of tackling forest fires, wood, fuels, electrical installations and lithium‑ion batteries, and a six‑litre unit can replace roughly 1,200 litres of water.
Director Petr Král emphasized that the first minutes are decisive for containing a fire. The organisation is also testing modern retardant agents that create a temporary barrier to slow fire spread, with spokesperson Petr Toman saying they are identifying the most vulnerable locations for preventive use.
