Czech Ministry of Defence loses 17.6 million CZK in failed drone procurement

The Czech Ministry of Defence faced financial losses following a failed procurement attempt for drones intended for Military Police pyrotechnicians. The Ministry paid a deposit of 17.6 million CZK to the company Summit Defense, which subsequently went bankrupt without delivering the equipment.

Investigations revealed that both Summit Defense and its parent company, Summit Advanced Systems, were on the brink of bankruptcy at the time the contract was signed. The contract was awarded without a public tender, a decision the Ministry justified by citing the supplier's unique know-how. However, reports suggest the company lacked such expertise and had planned to resell drones from another provider to the state. While police examined the situation for potential criminal activity, the case was ultimately dismissed as no illegal actions were proven.
