Czech Ministry of Education ends funding for Children and Youth Olympics

The Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has ceased its annual subsidy of approximately 20 million CZK for the Children and Youth Olympics. Minister Robert Plaga stated that the funding of this initiative does not fall under the ministry's responsibility, as it is a sports project organized by the Czech Olympic Committee in cooperation with regional authorities.

Plaga noted that the Czech Olympic Committee is funded through the National Sports Agency, and regional governments possess their own budgets for such activities. The decision to end the subsidy has drawn criticism from the Czech Olympic Committee and members of the public, who argue that the funding is vital for youth sports development.
