Czech Ministry of Health proposes systemic reimbursement changes
Czech Health Minister Adam Vojtěch has released the draft reimbursement decree for the upcoming year, a critical document that dictates the allocation of billions of crowns within the healthcare system. The decree aims to implement systemic changes, including a new map of medical care distribution that shifts certain procedures between regional facilities and major medical centers.
Key changes include a new approach to total hip and knee endoprostheses, addressing the rising number of these procedures in the country. Vojtěch also intends to increase the responsibility of health insurance companies, aiming to make them more proactive rather than relying on heavy ministerial regulation. This shift is intended to drive higher quality of care through increased pressure on providers.
While the decree is currently in the comment period, Vojtěch indicated that while some feedback will be incorporated, the fundamental premise is to maintain a balanced decree. He noted that major shifts in the document are unlikely following the comment period, despite potential objections from large hospitals or outpatient specialists.
