Czech Ministry warns of fraudulent highway vignette e-shops
The Czech Ministry of Transport has issued a warning regarding unofficial e-shops selling highway vignettes. While the annual price for a vignette remains at 2,570 CZK following the cancellation of regular price indexation, motorists risk significant financial loss through fraudulent websites.
According to the ministry, there are two main types of unofficial sellers. ‘Grey e-shops’ charge additional service or manipulation fees for legitimate vignettes, which the ministry deems unnecessary. More dangerous fraudulent sites may charge thousands of crowns more than the official price and may fail to provide a valid vignette at all.
To combat this, the ministry moved the official e-shop to the unified government domain ‘dalnice.gov.cz’ to help drivers identify authentic sites. The State Fund for Transport Infrastructure (SFDI) is currently engaged in legal disputes regarding copyright violations by certain providers. The ministry continues to work on public awareness campaigns and attempts to have fraudulent servers shut down.
