Czech monuments undergo major restoration projects

Major restoration projects are underway for historic monuments in the Czech Republic. In Česká Lípa, the Holy Trinity Column on T. G. M. Square is undergoing restoration to repair cracks, replace missing parts, and clean the structure. The project, led by sculptor Jan Vích, is expected to be completed by November 2026 and aims to preserve the 1681 memorial to the end of a plague epidemic.

In Olomouc, the UNESCO-listed Holy Trinity Column is nearing the end of a two-year restoration process. While scaffolding is being removed to reveal the cleaned sandstone and gilded sculptures, additional work remains on the chapel, balustrade, and lighting. The 30 million CZK project, largely funded by subsidies, also led to the discovery of a time capsule and an unidentified underground space within the chapel.
