Czech Motoristé Party Withdraws from Senate Race, Backs ANO
The Motoristé party announced it will not field any candidates in the upcoming Czech Senate elections scheduled for 9‑10 October, citing a severe shortage of personnel and a strategic focus on building its regional base. Instead, the party will contest only three major cities in the municipal elections and will support coalition partners from the ANO movement and the SPD. Party leader Petr Macinka said the group lacks the resources to run a viable Senate campaign and will back ANO candidates where possible. Earlier talks on joint Senate candidates with ANO collapsed after the dominant Babiš‑led ANO decided to run alone in all districts. The Motoristé’s sole recent Senate candidate, Boris Šťastný, lost his race in Prague 12, underscoring the party’s dwindling electoral prospects.
