Czech municipal election candidates outline local priorities

Candidates for the 2026 municipal elections in several Czech towns—Frýdek-Místek, Domažlice, and Bruntál—have outlined their platforms regarding local infrastructure and social services.

In Frýdek-Místek, political groups are addressing housing accessibility, the recreational development of the Místecký forest, and parking solutions. Some candidates aim to work with developers to secure more affordable rental units.

In Domažlice, discussions focus on the migration of skilled workers to Germany and the resulting local labor shortages, particularly in nursing. Candidates are also debating the development of municipal and social housing, as well as the future use of the former Královec factory.

In Bruntál, key issues include the management of the local hospital following its transfer to the Moravian-Silesian Region, the shortage of medical personnel, and the potential construction of a new ice stadium.
