Czech municipalities face unique municipal election dynamics
In several small municipalities within the Jablonec region of the Czech Republic, upcoming municipal elections feature unique voting scenarios. In towns such as Josefův Důl, Jílové u Držkova, Loužnice, Radčice, Skuhrov, and Vlastiboř, voters will face only a single candidate list.
In Josefův Důl, the list ‘PRO JOSEFŮV DŮL’ is led by current mayor Jiří Slanař, alongside deputy mayors Olga Ferklová and Karel Stuchlík. Local residents noted that the lack of competing groups often stems from a lack of interest from other parties rather than a unified political movement.
Other municipalities, including Jeníšovice and Frýdštejn, present a different dynamic where multiple independent candidates run on a single sheet without being part of a formal coalition. In Jeníšovice, for example, fourteen independent candidates are competing, with the current mayor, Monika Bernardová, appearing in the sequence determined by a random draw.
