Czech municipalities Krnov and Jeseník prepare for municipal elections
Municipal elections in the Czech Republic are approaching in the towns of Krnov and Jeseník, with several political groups vying for control of local councils.
In Krnov, the Krnovští patrioti party aims to defend its current position, led by Mayor Tomáš Hradil. The ANO party is also competing for leadership, with Monika Bala Dudová as its top candidate. The previous election in 2022 saw a very tight race between ANO and the patriots. New competition includes the Demokraté pro Krnov group, led by Ivan Krištofík, which focuses on themes such as urban safety, education, and long-term planning.
In Jeseník, nine groups are competing for seats in the municipal assembly. The political landscape is shifting as former Mayor Zdeňka Blišťanová is no longer running. The current coalition between Jeseník srdcem and Pro Jeseník has faced internal tensions in the past. New candidates and groups, including Občané Jeseníku, ANO 2011, and the Motoristé, are also participating in the race to determine the city's leadership for the next four years.
