Czech municipal elections: Coalition negotiations underway across cities

Following the conclusion of municipal elections in the Czech Republic, political parties have begun intensive negotiations to form governing coalitions in various cities and regions.

In Olomouc, ANO and STAN are the primary contenders for power, though leadership from STAN has stated that cooperation with ANO is currently excluded. In Plzeň, ANO has reached an agreement with STAN and Pro Plzeň to form a coalition that will hold 34 of the 47 seats. Similarly, in Havířov, ANO plans to continue governing alongside Společně pro Havířov and Hnutí pro Havířov, with Iveta Kočí Palkovská expected to remain mayor.

Other notable developments include:

- Hradec Králové: A planned three-party coalition involving HDK, TOP 09, and potentially Pirates or STAN is shaping up. - Brno: KDU-ČSL and STAN leader Jakub Hruška reported programmatic agreement with potential partners including ODS and TOP 09. - Frýdek-Místek: The winning movement Naše Město F-M is negotiating a coalition with Společně pro Frýdek-Místek. - Trutnov: ODS has secured a rapid coalition with Adresa Trutnov and VPM.

In several regions, such as Zlín and Uherské Hradiště, election results have led to diverse outcomes for local assemblies, with ANO performing strongly in some areas while independent groups and local movements gained ground in others.
