Czech municipalities undertake heritage and infrastructure repairs

In Liberec, the reconstruction of the Technikov pavilion is expected to be completed by mid-September. The original wooden structure was destroyed by a fungus, leading to the decision to build a replica. The project has faced significant challenges, including over one hundred errors and rising costs, which have increased the budget from 41 million to approximately 48 million CZK. Once finished, the building will serve as an information center to qualify for tourism subsidies.

In Litovel, repairs are underway on the Svatojánský Bridge, the oldest stone bridge in Moravia. The 55-meter structure has suffered from water leakage and cracks, necessitating a 10 million CZK renovation. The project is funded by a 7 million CZK subsidy and municipal funds. The bridge is closed to vehicular traffic until mid-November, though pedestrians and cyclists may still pass through. The bridge is a major tourist landmark in the town.
