Czech music festivals feature eclectic lineups from metal to jazz

The Brutal Assault festival in the Czech Republic delivered an intense metal program under scorching summer heat. Opening acts included American deathcore group Filth, followed by a tribute to Brazil's Sarcófago, progressive metal veterans Periphery, and a return of Canadian prog‑metal band Protest the Hero. The main stage later hosted Swiss trio Triptykon and Japanese collective Violent Magic Orchestra, while the second day saw Czech death‑metal act Dysangelium and Australian deathcore band Thy Art Is Murder.

Meanwhile, the Dobršská brána festival celebrated its tenth edition in the village of Dobrš. The event blends contemporary jazz, improvisation, classical and world music, presenting artists such as Norwegian hardanger fiddle player Nils Økland, Hungarian jazz figure Mihály Borbély, Finnish accordion virtuoso Kimmo Pohjonen, French‑Iranian percussionist Cyril Atef, pianist Helge Lien, Czech trumpeter Štěpánka Balcarová, and Japanese koto specialist Karin Nakagawa.
