Czech National Bank appoints two representatives to the IMF
The Czech National Bank (CNB) has appointed two experts to represent the Central and Eastern European constituency at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C., effective November 1, 2026.
Tomáš Adam will serve as the Deputy Managing Director for the constituency, a role that includes participating in Executive Board meetings and representing the Managing Director with full decision-making authority. Mikuláš Zeman, the CNB's expert for international cooperation, will join as an advisor to the Managing Director, focusing on analytical support and coordinating positions among member nations.
This appointment marks the return of a Czech representative to the constituency leadership after an eight-year absence. The constituency includes Austria, Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, and Kosovo. CNB Governor Aleš Michl stated that the placement aims to provide professional development opportunities for staff, noting that the expertise gained at the IMF will eventually benefit the central bank upon their return.
