Czech nutritionists warn women against fasting and highlight obesity drug guidance

Nutrition therapist Tereza Vágnerová told the audience at the Forbes Business Festival that women should avoid experimental fasting, especially during perimenopause, as severe energy restriction can disrupt menstrual cycles. She emphasized a varied plant‑based diet with at least five colours on the plate, sufficient protein, and the importance of building and maintaining muscle mass for long‑term health.

Doctors such as Ellen Ondrová and Martin Haluzík discussed modern obesity medications—including Ozempic, Mounjaro and Wegovy—that can produce a 10‑20% weight loss when combined with lifestyle changes. They warned that these drugs are not a standalone solution, stressing the need for dietary adjustments, regular physical activity, and medical supervision to prevent loss of muscle, bone and other health issues. Long‑term weight maintenance still requires sustained lifestyle modifications.
