Czech organic food consumption reaches 8.51 billion CZK

The organic food market in the Czech Republic has seen significant growth, with domestic consumption reaching 8.51 billion CZK in 2024. The total turnover for Czech companies dealing in organic food, including exports, rose to 13.27 billion CZK, up from 11.76 billion CZK the previous year.

Retail sales accounted for 5.62 billion CZK of this turnover, while online sales reached 2.15 billion CZK. Consumers are increasingly incorporating organic products into routine shopping, with retail chains representing 33 percent of consumption, e-shops 25 percent, and drugstores 20 percent.

Experts note that the European organic logo (euroleaf) signifies a certified production method rather than specific attributes like taste, nutritional superiority, or domestic origin. To use the label, a product must be certified by an authorized body, and processed foods must consist of at least 95 percent organic agricultural ingredients.
