Czech Republic issues broad summer safety guidance for water, heat and travel

All‑season health adviser Marek Dvořák warned that on hot days people should drink before feeling thirsty, balance beer with water, never leave children or pets unattended in a parked car, and watch for the unusual silence that can signal a drowning incident. He also urged protection against sunburn, sensible timing of outdoor sport, avoiding barefoot walks on hot surfaces, and checking medication side‑effects in the heat.

Local authorities and organisations added further tips. The Czech police and fire services will demonstrate rescue techniques at a free water‑safety fair on 28 July at Proboštská lakes in Brandýs nad Labem, showcasing a police boat and first‑aid advice for families. Travel insurers ČPP reminded road‑tripers to inspect vehicle condition, carry mandatory safety kits and verify the territorial coverage of their insurance before crossing borders.

Cultural bodies in Opava promoted a summer programme of concerts, folk festivals and a family cycling event, while a public poll in the Náchod region asked residents to vote for their favourite bathing sites among rivers, lakes and ponds.

Collectively, these messages aim to reduce heat‑related illness, drowning risk and travel mishaps during the Czech summer holiday period.
