Czech phishing emails promise fake 12,407.50 CZK refunds

A wave of fraudulent e‑mails has spread across the Czech Republic, offering recipients a supposed annual overpayment of 12 407,50 CZK. The messages use official‑looking logos and a fabricated reference number to appear legitimate, then direct users to a fake web form that copies the appearance of a state institution. When victims enter their online banking credentials, attackers gain full control of the accounts and can quickly empty them. The General Health Insurance of the Czech Republic warned that the visual similarity makes the scam hard to spot, and the Czech police have repeatedly cautioned the public about the rapid financial loss that can result.

Victims are advised to delete such messages, avoid clicking links, and immediately contact their bank if they have entered data on a suspicious site. Authorities stress that prompt reporting can help limit damage and assist in investigations.
