Czech Pilgrimage Cycling Tour Begins July 29 Across Slovak Holy Sites
The 22nd edition of the Czech pilgrimage cycling tour organized by the local Orla unit will launch on Wednesday, 29 July, from Uherský Brod. Over eleven days the roughly 100 participants will cover about 780 km on ten stages, traveling primarily through Slovak pilgrimage sites such as Butkov u Ladců, the mountain Živčáková near Turzovka, the famous Christ statue in Klín, and Mariánska hora in Levoča.
Riders range from eight to 78 years old, including families, and a few will ride recumbent or electric bikes. Five priests will provide spiritual accompaniment, while a health and service team handles bike repairs and medical needs. Luggage will be shuttled by bus, and overnight stays are arranged in tents, sports halls, school rooms and parish halls. The tour aims to combine sport with communal prayer and visits to sacred places, building fellowship among participants.
