Czech PM Babiš champions Serbia's Expo 2027 and arms sales

Czech officials highlighted Serbia's growing appeal to Europe ahead of Expo 2027 in Belgrade. The head of the Czech embassy’s trade‑economic section in Belgrade, Pavel Daňk, said Serbia wants to use the exposition as a showcase of its new logistics hub and to attract European investment, while positioning its Czech pavilion around space technology.

During a recent visit, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš praised the upcoming Expo, calling it the "first league" and promoting a Czech pavilion that will feature a space‑technology theme. He also announced that the Czech government expects Serbia to purchase Czech L‑39 Skyfox trainer jets and that Czech arms worth €24.2 million have been sold to Montenegro, including CZ BREN 3 rifles. Babiš cited a €1.2 billion Serbian investment in the Expo site and a new 52,000‑seat stadium as signs of deepening economic ties.
