Czech PM Babiš urges Europe to increase diplomacy to end Ukraine war

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has called on European leaders to increase diplomatic efforts to end the war in Ukraine, criticizing the current European approach as insufficient. During an official visit to Bulgaria, Babiš met with Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev to discuss the conflict and its impact on European energy prices and the broader economy.

Babiš cited U.S. President Donald Trump’s direct communications with Russian President Vladimir Putin as an example of proactive diplomacy. He noted that while European leaders have been largely inactive in seeking a resolution, Trump has engaged in lengthy telephone conversations with Putin in an attempt to broker peace.

Prime Minister Radev echoed the need for peace, stating, “It is not possible to wage war in the heart of Europe.” The discussions also touched upon global economic pressures, including tensions in the Middle East and their effects on vital maritime trade routes.
