Czech police arrest former employee for parcel locker thefts

A 25-year-old former employee of a parcel locker company is in custody following an investigation into a series of thefts targeting high-value goods. Using specialized knowledge gained from his previous employment, the suspect allegedly bypassed security mechanisms to open lockers and retrieve items.

Police are currently investigating at least 20 separate incidents across South Bohemia, including the České Budějovice, Tábor, and Prachatice regions, as well as the Vysočina region. The stolen items primarily consisted of expensive electronics, such as luxury mobile phones, notebooks, and accessories, but also included perfumes and collectible cards.

Total damages are estimated to exceed 2 million CZK, though authorities believe the final figure and the number of cases may rise as the investigation continues. The suspect faces charges of fraud, unauthorized access to a computer system, and unauthorized interference with a computer system or information carrier.
