Czech Police Featured in New Documentary Series 'In Service: By the Law

A new eight‑episode documentary series, Ve službě: Jménem zákona ('In Service: By the Law'), provides an unprecedented look inside the Police of the Czech Republic. Filmed by director Martina Eretová, the series follows officers in patrol cars, on the operation centre, and during special‑unit deployments, showcasing real‑time decision‑making and the human side of policing.

The programme also highlights specialist units: mounted police trained by Vladimír Šperl, police dogs guided by Jiří Pavlovský, and the river unit that conducts underwater rescues. It features footage of a large‑scale search for an armed teacher, a football derby where officers intervened against aggressive fans, and the work of canine interview assistants described by investigator Markéta Doležalová. Viewers see how horses, dogs, divers and other support teams are prepared for both routine patrols and complex emergencies.
