Czech police run summer safety program for schoolchildren

Police representatives from the Czech Republic’s regional directorates organised safety campaigns for children ahead of the summer holidays. In the Liberec region, officers visited schools during the final school week, handing out workbooks titled “Zebra se za Tebe nerozhlédne” and teaching pupils how to use pedestrian crossings, wear bike helmets, and secure child seats and seatbelts in cars.

In the South Bohemian region, the Krajské ředitelství policie collaborated with schools in Strakonice and Vodňany. Police officers, accompanied by a dog handler and service dog, demonstrated safe swimming practices, river crossing precautions, and how to react if lost or encountering strangers. Children also tried traffic‑sign identification stations, simulated fatigue and alcohol effects with special glasses, and learned safe cycling and e‑scooter habits. The programmes, aimed at primary‑school pupils, are part of year‑round preventive activities the police offer to schools and youth camps.
