Czech political figures and journalists face disinformation campaigns

Czech political discourse is facing a surge in coordinated disinformation and aggressive rhetoric targeting public figures. President Petr Pavel has become a primary target of narratives labeling him a ‘war instigator’ and a ‘puppet of Washington and Brussels,’ aiming to incite public panic regarding the country’s involvement in the war in Ukraine.

Parallel attacks are being directed at journalists and former public media personalities, such as Václav Moravec, Nora Fridrichová, and Marek Wollner. These campaigns often utilize similar patterns, attempting to delegitimize professionals by labeling them as activists, propagandists, or agents of foreign interests like George Soros or BlackRock.

Additionally, political figures such as Zuzana Majerová have been noted for disseminating pro-Russian propaganda. This includes repeating debunked narratives regarding the conflict in Ukraine and accusing Western-aligned leaders of being ‘euro-warriors’ who have driven nations into unnecessary conflict.
