Czech political landscape shifts following local and senate elections
Recent municipal and senate election results in the Czech Republic have triggered significant political shifts and public demonstrations. Following losses in these elections, Andrej Babiš and his ANO movement have faced criticism regarding unfulfilled promises and recent political maneuvers concerning media concession fees.
In response to the election outcomes, protests occurred in Prague, including a demonstration at Malostranské náměstí in support of public media. Meanwhile, Vít Rakušan, leader of the STAN movement, has expressed ambitions to challenge the ANO movement for voters. Despite Rakušan's goal to compete in ANO strongholds, polling data from STEM suggests a deep polarization between the government and opposition blocks, with very little voter overlap between STAN and ANO.
