Czech political parties prepare for Senate and municipal elections

In the lead-up to upcoming municipal and Senate elections in the Czech Republic, political movements are positioning themselves for long-term influence. Martin Kuba, founder of the Naše Česko movement, stated that while current polls place the group at three to four percent, his goal is to reach twenty-five to thirty percent and eventually secure the premiership.

Kuba emphasized the need for structural changes in the country, specifically criticizing the current pension reform. He argued that without an automatic enrollment system similar to those in Poland or Germany, the system will become unsustainable and fail to invest capital into domestic infrastructure and housing.

Meanwhile, the ANO movement has announced it will run candidates independently in 24 of the 27 Senate districts up for election this October. Although coalition cooperation was previously considered, ANO leadership decided to field its own candidates to maximize success. The party currently holds 15 of the 81 Senate seats and is looking to expand its presence in the upper chamber.
