Czech poll shows falling government approval and waning trust in courts

A STEM survey of more than 1,000 Czech adults found that confidence in Prime Minister Andrej Babiš' government has been slipping since January, with overall dissatisfaction now outstripping satisfaction. The sharpest decline is among supporters of the Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) party, while voters for ANO remain the most supportive but are also showing a gradual drop. Supporters of the Motorist Party displayed fluctuating approval levels over the year.

A July Ipsos poll indicated that roughly two‑thirds of Czechs believe recent political attacks on the Constitutional Court—triggered by a dispute over President Petr Pavel’s participation in the NATO summit in Ankara—undermine confidence in democratic institutions. About 64% said politicians’ accusations of court bias erode trust, and a similar share fear the rhetoric threatens democracy itself.
