Czech professional and security leaders discuss legal standards and crisis preparedness
Michala Plachká, Vice-President of the Czech Bar Association, discussed the organization's priorities following a year of new leadership. Her focus includes European and international law, family law, and supporting the next generation of lawyers through a new section for legal trainees. Plachká emphasized the need for the Chamber to provide predictable rules and protect professional independence, confidentiality, and a high-quality legislative environment.
Separately, Václav Pelikán, head of the crisis management department at the Police Presidium of the Czech Republic, addressed the necessity of preparing for potential war and crisis situations. During a seminar organized by MP Jan Bartošek, Pelikán advocated for reviving civil defense exercises similar to those in the 1980s and suggested involving youth aged 15 and older, such as scouts and medical students, in crisis preparedness. He noted that practical preparation often faces resistance from the private sector due to potential economic disruptions.
