Czech public figures discuss struggles with addiction and recovery
Former reality TV participant Martin Hranáč and retired footballer Martin Fenin have shared personal accounts regarding their battles with substance abuse and the impact of public life.
Hranáč, who appeared on the show Vyvolení, described how the pursuit of fame failed to launch his acting career and instead led to a period of instability. He admitted to struggling with alcohol and drugs, facing financial difficulties and periods of homelessness, including working as a pole dancer in Germany to make ends meet.
Martin Fenin spoke about his three-month stay in a treatment center, which he described as a form of “service” for the mind. Fenin noted that the experience helped him organize his thoughts and learn more about himself. He emphasized that addiction is defined by how it affects a person's life rather than the amount of substance consumed.
