Czech regional heritage awards honour restored monuments
The Plzeň Region held its annual Heritage Day, announcing the winners of the 2025 "Památka Plzeňského kraje" competition. Nineteen restored cultural sites were judged by a five‑member expert panel, with public voting receiving 2,156 valid votes. Ing. Miroslav Boček received the main prize in the building category for the comprehensive restoration of the former brick‑works complex in Boubín, including the kiln, drying house and factory chimney.
In the neighboring Královéhradecký Region, the Hereditas obligat award was presented for the sixth time. The Kaplicky Centre Foundation won the 50,000‑CZK prize for its restoration of Villa Čerych in Česká Skalice, an Art Deco and rondo‑cubist work by Otakar Novotný. The renovation created exhibition, conference and accommodation spaces, aiming to reintegrate the historic building into community life.
Both awards highlight regional efforts to preserve cultural heritage, support skilled restoration work, and engage the public with historic sites.
