Czech Regions Implement Veterinary Rotas and Order Pet Cemetery Removal

In the Karlovarský kraj, veterinary clinics will continue to rotate on‑call emergency services throughout August, covering towns such as Karlovy Vary, Cheb, Ostrov, Františkovy Lázně, Chodov, Sokolov and Tašov. The schedule assigns a different veterinarian each weekend and public holiday to ensure rapid care for serious animal injuries, accidents and poisoning.

The municipal authorities in Turnov have ordered the removal of a long‑standing informal pet burial ground located in a forest owned by the State Forestry Service. Residents were given a deadline of the end of November to clear crosses and headstones; otherwise forest staff will remove them. The city cited violations of forest law and the lack of a designated pet cemetery as reasons for the directive.

Both measures reflect local attempts to manage animal‑related issues, ranging from emergency veterinary care to the regulation of pet burial practices.
