Czech stadiums undergo major upgrades for energy efficiency and ice‑surface renovation

The football stadium Střelnice in Jablonec has completed a heating‑system overhaul. Two AIC condensing gas boilers, installed by Brilon, replaced the decades‑old cast‑iron units. New regulation and hydraulic separation allow the turf to stay at optimal root temperatures, delivering an estimated 30‑40% energy saving after the first winter. The project was funded by Jablonec Energy (JE) and carried out by TEP Jablonec.

In Strakonice, preparations are under way to reconstruct the municipal winter arena, which has suffered roof leaks and cooling problems. Technical surveys of the unique wooden glued‑arch roof structure have been completed, and a specialist firm is evaluating the findings. The reconstruction will address both the roof and the ice‑cooling system, retaining the proven ammonia technology, and a second ice surface is being considered for training use. The total investment is preliminarily estimated at 80‑100 million CZK, with project documentation expected by the end of the year and construction slated to begin after the 2027 season.
