Czech Republic business trends show growth and digital gaps
In 2024, the Czech Republic saw 1.36 million active businesses, a 3.3% increase from the previous year. Sole proprietorships remain the dominant form of business, with over one million active entities. The largest sectors by number of businesses include wholesale and retail, professional and technical services, and construction. While over 130,000 new businesses were established, creating approximately 105,000 jobs, long-term survival remains a challenge; only about 52% of new businesses remain operational after five years.
Regarding digital presence, only 56% of Czech companies with more than 10 employees maintain profiles on social media, which is below the European Union average of 64%. While large corporations with over 250 employees have a high presence of nearly 90%, smaller firms often lack a structured social media strategy. Experts note that relying solely on platforms like Facebook may limit visibility, especially as AI-driven search engines change how customers find businesses.
