Czech Republic: Candidates register for Ostrava municipal and Olomouc Senate elections

Political candidates have been registered for upcoming elections in the Czech Republic, covering both municipal contests in Ostrava and Senate elections in the Olomouc region.

In Ostrava, 13 lists of candidates have registered for the municipal elections. Jan Dohnal (ODS) is seeking reelection as mayor leading the Srdce Ostravy coalition. Other notable contenders include Richard Vereš for the ANO movement, Lukáš Semerák for Ostravak, and Aleš Boháč for Starostové pro Ostravu. The field also includes representatives from the Pirates, SPD, and the Ostravská levice coalition.

In the Olomouc Senate district (District 66), five candidates are set to compete in October. The race includes Martin Škurek (ANO), Michael Kohajda (KDU-ČSL, supported by ODS, TOP 09, and Pirates), Marek Ošťádal (24/7), Pavel Jelínek (SPD), and Zdeněk Beil (Levice). Incumbent Marek Ošťádal is running under the newly formed 24/7 movement.
