Czech Republic concession fees to continue due to legislative delays

The abolition of concession fees for public media in the Czech Republic has been delayed due to legislative issues. Despite previous government intentions to eliminate these fees, the necessary law to reform the financing of public broadcasters, such as Czech Television, has not been implemented.

Critics suggest that the lack of a functional financing law is a result of political maneuvering, specifically pointing toward Andrej Babiš. While the Ministry of Culture previously attempted to secure funding for public media, the legislative process remains stalled, ensuring that concession fees will continue to be collected in the upcoming year.
