Czech Republic driving rules: Fog light usage and fines
Drivers in the Czech Republic face potential fines of up to 5,000 CZK for the incorrect use of fog lights. According to Section 125c of the Road Traffic Act, while using front fog lights is optional during fog, snow, or heavy rain, the use of rear fog lights is mandatory under those same conditions.
Authorities emphasize that fog lights should not be used for simple darkness, wet roads, or light drizzle. Because rear fog lights are significantly more intense than standard tail lights, they must be switched off once the fog, snow, or heavy rain ceases to avoid blinding other drivers.
