Czech Republic enhances military logistics and civil defense planning

The Czech Ministry of Defence has entered into a nearly 100 million CZK, five-year contract with CEDAMaps to acquire advanced digital road network data. This data will allow the military to plan transport routes based on specific vehicle parameters, including type, dimensions, weight, and right-of-way preferences. The service, which will be available 24/7 via a web application, covers the entire territory of the Czech Republic.

In a separate development regarding civil protection, the Brno University of Technology (FIT VUT) and the University of Defence are collaborating on the iKryty application. This software is designed to map and plan improvised shelters within urban environments, such as Prague, to protect citizens during armed conflicts. A memorandum of partnership has been signed between the City of Prague, the Prague Fire and Rescue Service, the University of Defence, Brno University of Technology, and the Tomas Bata University in Zlín to facilitate the use and development of this tool. The application is available for free to all municipalities in the Czech Republic to help identify and evaluate spaces that could serve as emergency shelters.
