Czech Republic expands 5G coverage and fiber optic infrastructure

Vodafone and Vantage Towers have completed the installation of new 5G transmitters along the major railway corridor connecting Prague, Česká Třebová, Ostrava, and Brno. Funded by the National Recovery Plan, the project eliminates two 'white spots' in Komárov and Prstná and improves connectivity across nine other sections, including Borky, Choceň, and Lipník nad Bečvou.

Separately, the Czech Telecommunication Office (ČTÚ) reported significant shifts in the national telecommunications market. Data consumption continues to rise, with fixed-line optical connections (FTTH/B) now accounting for 25% of all fixed internet accesses, nearly catching up to WiFi. The ČTÚ also issued a warning regarding the increasing number of regulatory filings generated by artificial intelligence, noting that AI-produced documents often contain inaccuracies or non-existent legal references that can delay official investigations.
