Czech Republic expands military education and reserve officer training
The Czech Republic is expanding its military education and officer training initiatives to enhance national defense capabilities. Brigadier General Jan Farlík, Rector-Commander of the University of Defence, announced that the institution is moving away from institutional isolation to foster greater cooperation with the defense industry, foreign partners, and other academic institutions. This shift aims to address rapid technological changes in areas such as robotics, drones, artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies.
Additionally, the Ministry of Defence is launching a pilot program in the Karlovy Vary region to train reserve officers. In collaboration with the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague, the voluntary three-semester course will be available to university students starting next September. The program is designed to prepare students for potential roles in active reserves or general reserves during crisis situations, offering benefits such as scholarship programs to encourage participation.
