Czech Republic expands preventive medical screenings
New medical guidelines in the Czech Republic are expanding access to preventive screenings to improve early detection of chronic diseases. According to a methodological directive from the Ministry of Health, all individuals over the age of 50 are now entitled to blood and urine tests to monitor kidney function every two years during routine check-ups. This is an expansion from previous rules that only applied to high-risk patients once every four years.
Additionally, patients with diabetes, high blood pressure, or cardiovascular diseases are entitled to these kidney function tests every two years regardless of their age. The initiative aims to catch chronic kidney disease early, as it often presents no significant symptoms in its initial stages.
In separate preventive health news, the KNTB Mamodiagnostic Center in Zlín reported that its mammography unit screened 6,000 women over the past year, identifying 80 cases of disease. Medical professionals emphasize the importance of regular mammograms for women aged 45 and older, noting that early detection is critical even when no physical symptoms are present.
