Czech Republic faces surge in ransomware attacks across critical sectors

Cybersecurity analysts have reported a coordinated escalation of ransomware attacks targeting various sectors of the Czech economy. According to data from ComSource, 22 documented threats were recorded in July, affecting government administration, healthcare, energy, and cultural institutions.

Specific groups have been identified in these activities. The group 'The Gentlemen' targeted municipal and city offices on July 16, as well as the energy sector and cultural institutions. The Qilin group conducted sophisticated attacks on the healthcare sector on July 7 and July 13. Additionally, the Titan group led an aggressive campaign against IT and consulting firms.

Beyond ransomware, a sophisticated vishing campaign has emerged, using the Czech language to impersonate bank employees to target mobile banking users.
