Czech Republic hosts jazz and classical music festivals in October
The Czech Republic will host several significant musical events in early October, featuring both jazz and classical performances.
The 32nd edition of the Jazz Goes to Town festival will take place in Hradec Králové from October 6 to 10. Under the theme ‘Podivuhodný výlet’, the festival features international artists such as German saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock, American bassist Max Johnson, and the Scandinavian Arcanum Quartet. Local performers including Lenka Gálisová Quartet, Kristina Barta, and Marcel Bárta will also participate. Notable venues include a church, a cinema, and a Finnish sauna for a performance by the Prague Quiet Music Collective.
Additionally, the Classic Praha series will present a variety of classical concerts. Highlights include Garrick Ohlsson performing Antonín Dvořák’s Piano Concerto in G minor with the Czech Philharmonic, and performances by the Czech Philharmonic under Lovro von Matačič. The schedule also includes works by Anton Bruckner, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Leoš Janáček, featuring artists such as James Galway and Giuliano Carmignola.
